It's active ingredient is Sodium Carbonate Peroxyhydrate which contains hydrogen Dioxide. Because this is oxygen Powered, it is safe for fish and animals in recommended dosages. 1 cup treats 200 sq. ft. EPA registered.

Note: This product does NOT get rid of green water. This product is intended for direct use on algae that is forming on a waterfall. It is not intended to kill surface algae (ie hair algae or blanket weed) that is growing  in the pond itself. In other words, don’t add this to the pond water.

Barley straw synthesized extract eliminates messy decomposing barley pads. Includes built in dosage chamber. Treats 300 gallons per ounce. Maintenance dose should be applied every two weeks.

Here's how barley pellets work: As barley straw decomposes in water, it releases lignins, which oxidize to humic acids in the presence of oxygen. If sunlight then shines on the humic substances, hydrogen peroxide is formed. The peroxides in turn help to keep your pond clean and clear. Barley straw pellets release a constant supply of low levels of hydrogen peroxide which is safe and effective. Oxygen must be in high enough levels to create the inhibitors, so a good place to add the pellets is near your waterfall, in full sun. Temperature is also a factor. Barley straw can take one to three months to be effective - but these barley pellets are much faster, starting to work almost immediately. Start using Barley Straw Pellets anytime and apply every six weeks through fall. We've found this product to be most effective when applied in small, partial doses over a 7-10 week period.
