Savio2 Aeration System 2 with 1/2HP Air Pump-Double Diffusers (x2)-100ft Weighted Tubing (x2) – SAS2
Benefits of Pond Aeration
Savio2 is Savio Engineerings newest large aeration system. Savio2 Aeration primarily helps break up thermocline that can develop over time in a static pond. Air is forced through the rubber membrane and circulates the water to promote higher oxygen levels throughout the pond and helps prevent fish kills from pond turnover. Savio2 creates a healthier environment during the hot summer months and allows your fish to stay in deeper sections of your pond. During winter months, Savio2 keeps a hole in the ice for natural pond gasses to escape. Aerating your pond with the Savio2 Aeration System has a multitude of benefits including…
- Increases oxygen levels making it easier for fish to thrive in the hot summers
- Promotes growth of algae controlling beneficial bacteria
- Lowers levels of dissolved toxic gasses and ammonia
- Reduces sludge build up on the pond bottom
- Helps maintain an open water hole in the ice during winter
- Quiet operation
- Keeps the water moving and prevents thermal stratification
What is Included with Your Savio2 Aeration System
There are a few components that are necessary to ensure successful aeration.
Air Compressor (included with all Savio2 Aeration Systems): The air compressor is the primary piece of the aeration system, it is the pump that produces the compressed air that is delivered to the bottom of the pond. The air compressor is placed on the shore or near the pond, but with additional tubing it can be placed several hundred feet away from the pond.
Weighted Tubing (included with all Savio2 Aeration Systems): Weighted tubing carries the air produced by the compressor down to the double diffuser at the bottom of the pond. What sets weighted tubing apart from standard tubing is that it does not float on top on the pond, so you can easily maintain the beauty of your pond!
Double Diffuser (included with all Savio2 Aeration Systems): The double diffuser is attached to the weighted tubing at the bottom of the pond. It is used to break up air, produced by the air compressor, into fine bubbles creating more effective circulation and aeration.
Air Compressor Enclosures (included with SAS-GE and SAS-WE options): Air compressor enclosures conceal and protect your air compressor. If air compressors get wet or too hot, they will quit working. Savio2 Air Pump Enclosures are specifically built to house Savio2 Air Compressors to ensure a seamless fit. These Air Pump Enclosures not only protect your air compressor from the elements; they also work against overheating with the help of heat-resistant tubing.

Choosing the Best Aeration System for My Pond
When deciding which aeration system will work best for your pond, it is important to consider both size and shape…
Size: You can easily calculate the size of your pond with the following equation- Length x Width / 43,560 = Pond Size in Acres
If you find your pond is between pond sizes, always round up!
Example: A pond is 600 feet long and 120 feet long, 600 x 120 / 43,560 = 1.65 Acres, so the best system for the pond would be the SAS2.
Shape: Round ponds provide more effective aeration than irregular or narrow shaped ponds. Typically, one double diffuser per acre at the center of a circular pond will provide sufficient aeration. Contrarily, narrow, long, or irregular shaped ponds often need two or more diffusers to circulate the entirety of the water volume. It may be beneficial to look at your pond from an aerial view on a software such as Google Earth to get a better idea of the shape.

Choosing the Right Air Compressor for Your Aeration System
For every acre of pond surface area, we recommend at least one double diffuser. To provide proper air supply to all your diffusers, you will need to have an air pump with the right amount of power. We suggest at least 1/4 horsepower per diffuser. If you need more than 1.5 horsepower, you can combine multiple pumps to reach your desired power level. To aerate the entirety of your pond’s water volume, it is essential that you have the right amount of power and diffusers.
Enjoy Your Healthy Pond!
Pond aeration is a crucial component in the health and functionality of your feature. It is beneficial in every season and during all parts of the day. During the evening it helps oxygenate the pond when plants are not. During the winter it helps break down layers of stratification, helps keep an opening in surface ice for out-gassing, and functions as the oxygen source. In warmer months dissolve oxygen levels are generally lower, aeration helps all biological processes and creates a more stable environment, resulting in healthier fish and plants. With the Savio2 Aeration System, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy your beautiful water feature!
