Description

sera siporax pond protect Professional is the biological filter medium with a protecting ball preventing abrasion, which was specially developed for use in filter setups with strong water agitation. The outer cover protects the internal siporax ring and directs the water current directly into it. Water flow through the sintered glass ring is therefore even more effective, and nitrification performance of the filter bacteria is increased by maximum oxygen intake.

Due to its unique three-dimensional tunnel structure with plenty of pores, the siporax inside is proven to provide ideal settling conditions for filter bacteria. The surface required for settling is optimally enhanced, and pollutant breakdown is maximized. This results in biologically clean water and a particularly long holding time of the filter.

Dosage depends on fish density. 145 spheres are required per each 1,000 grams (2.2 lb.) of fish. In a moderately stocked pond with approximately 200 g (7 oz.) of fish and a maximum stock of 1,000 g (2.2 lb.) fish per each 1,000 liters (264 US gal.) pond volume, the 10 liter (2.6 US gal.) pack with 210 spheres is sufficient for 1,500 to 7,300 liters (396 to 1,928 US gal.) and the 50 liter (13 US gal.) pack with 1,050 spheres for 7,350 to 37,000 liters (1,941 to 9,774 US gal.).

For an easy calculation of the requirements, the weight of the fish (in grams) is multiplied by the factor 0.145. This tells the number of spheres required.
